QY Furniture – Singapore Villa Dining Room Furniture Project
This project involves custom furniture for the dining room of a high-end private villa in Singapore. Designed with a modern, minimalist, and “light luxury” aesthetic, the set is tailored for the enclosed dining spaces found in Singapore’s tropical villas and spacious luxury residences.
The collection comprises a complete round dining table and matching chairs, designed for formal family meals, gatherings with friends, and intimate dinner parties. Reflecting the Singaporean preference for sophisticated simplicity—characterized by restrained color palettes accented with artistic color contrasts—this furniture balances sculptural artistry, daily durability, and suitability for a hot, humid climate.
Round Dining Table
The tabletop features a matte black circular surface with a refined, slim-profile edge. The base is a substantial, natural marble pedestal shaped like a classic “vase” or drum; it features a white background with natural grey veining and connects to the tabletop via a black metal transition piece.
The voluminous, drum-like marble base serves as the visual focal point of the dining room. The round table format aligns with the Southeast Asian tradition of communal dining, making it ideal for larger groups.
• Matching Dining Chairs
These chairs feature a streamlined, sculptural design without armrests, characterized by a continuous curved shell where the legs, backrest, and seat are molded as a single unit.
Available in two colors—burgundy and off-white—the project utilizes an alternating arrangement to create a dynamic color contrast. The chair’s silhouette is defined by delicate, visible stitching; free from superfluous ornamentation, the design appears lightweight yet possesses a solid, substantial presence.
Analysis of Core Materials and Craftsmanship
1. Round Table
• Tabletop: Matte sintered stone or lacquered panel; scratch-resistant, stain-resistant, and heat-resistant to withstand frequent dining use. The matte finish minimizes glare, making it ideal for tropical interiors with bright natural light.
• Base: Natural marble, carved and polished from a single block into a vase-like drum shape, ensuring unique natural veining for every piece. A black metal flange connects the marble base to the tabletop, reinforcing the structure and ensuring stability.
To address Singapore’s high humidity, the underside of the stone base is treated with a moisture-proof coating to prevent dampness and water seepage.
2. Dining Chair Details
• Upholstery: High-quality faux leather or genuine leather in a burgundy and off-white two-tone scheme. The surface is smooth and refined, resistant to heat, humidity, and yellowing—ideal for Singapore’s hot, humid climate—and allows for easy wiping away of food and drink stains.
• Internal Structure: Filled with high-resilience foam for balanced comfort (neither too soft nor too hard). Features a molded, integrated curved silhouette with exquisite double-stitch detailing along the edges, creating a sculptural profile.
